Ironworkers utilize a variety of tools and specialized equipment. Duties may include erecting structural streel and bolting beams, columns and other components together. In addition, this role will perform occasional administrative work in support of project leadership. Role responsibilities are not all encompassing as specific work tasks, project types, and build phases drastically vary. This is a broad representation of the type of tasks and requirements required of Ironworkers at JE Dunn. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.\n\nAutonomy and Decision-Making: Follows directions and refers all exceptions to supervisor.\nCareer Path: Trade Foreman 1\nKey Role Responsibilities - Core\nUtilizes knowledge of ironworking practices and tools\nHandles structural components of buildings including beams, columns and other related items\nAssists in repairing or modifying structural and miscellaneous steel as needed under direction from foremen or project leadership\nPlaces structural members under supervision ensuring safe and consistent practices are followed\nInstalls and fastens metal decking for floors, and roofs\nResponsible for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance and following OSHA standards\nAdheres to JE Dunn safety standards\nRole requires personal ownership of all necessary hand tools and pouches\n\nExpected behavioral standards:\nShows up and is ready to work when scheduled\nCommunicates absence or tardiness with supervisor as early as possible\nShows respect for yourself and others\nWorks safely\nHas a can-do attitude\nKey Role Responsibilities - Additional Core\nWelds structural components together ensuring the framework is solid and safe\nModifies existing metal components by cutting or welding to create unique, project specific components\nProficient in various types of welding\nLeads by example, providing proper guidance and instructions to ironworking team\nTeaches and trains the team to perform scope of work to the highest quality standard\nDemonstrates excellent expertise in miscellaneous metalworking, welding and structural assembly\nReads and understands project plans with applicable scope of work\nResponsible for completing JE Dunn reports and pre-task planning\nResponsible for material forecasting for specific tasks\nCoordinates and implements safety procedures for tasks\nCoordinates with foreman on upcoming work and durations\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\n\nAbility to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner\nEffective Communication skills, verbal and written\nKnowledge of specific trades and scopes of work\nKnowledge of all ironworking hand tools, use and own all required hand tools and pouches\nBasic understanding of principles of layout and construction math\nAbility to complete assigned duties with minimal guidance\nAbility to provide excellent customer service\nAbility to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally\nEducation\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED (Preferred)\nApprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred)\nIn lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.\nExperience\n\n5+ years’ experience in specific trade (Preferred)\n5+ years commercial construction experience (Preferred)\nWorking Environment\nMust be able to lift at least to 50 pounds\nMay be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)\nMust be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs\nMay require use of respirator\nMust be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, various depths (trenches)\nFrequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Kneeling, Carrying, Swinging, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Balancing\nOccasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen\nSpecific environmental and physical requirements may vary by project type/location\nBenefits Information\n\nThe benefits package aligned to this position is Skilled Trade Non Union.\n\nThis role is expected to accept applications for at least three business days and may continue to be posted until a qualified applicant is selected or the position has been cancelled.\n\nJE Dunn Construction is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
