Job Overview The Housekeeping Manager assists the Executive Housekeeper in managing associates and ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the hotel, guest rooms, public areas, laundry and other assigned areas. Coordinates all functions of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments and ensures impeccable levels of cleanliness and upkeep. Must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and team‑building skills with associates, peers and across departments.
Responsibilities Direct, interview, hire, counsel, plan work schedules, and assign duties of Housekeeping associates.
Lead pre‑shift meetings, communicating arrivals, departures, identifying VIPs, delegating room assignments and duties.
Assist the Executive Housekeeper in interviewing and selecting new associates for hire.
Monitor housekeeping staff and their productivity and efficiency to recommend promotions or other changes.
Assist in handling employee complaints, grievances and disciplining up to termination when necessary.
Determine appropriate materials, supplies, and tools; purchase, stock, and manage inventory.
Supervise and inspect the cleaning of guest rooms, turndown service, public areas, and back‑of‑house; ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, SOPs, health, and sanitation standards to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Implement emergency training and procedures to protect guests, staff, and company assets.
Issue assignments to staff reviewing special requests and concentration areas to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Distribute supplies to staff at shift start to control inventory and expenses.
Respond to guest requests, concerns, and problems to ensure guest satisfaction; log items into Lost and Found.
Qualifications One to two years of post‑high school education.
One to two years of related work experience with this company or another organization.
Self‑starting personality with an even disposition.
Ability to meet appearance standards.
Good communication skills with guests.
Experience in leadership, team building, and scheduling.
Physical Demands Pushing vacuum throughout hallway, carrying supplies between department and floor, transporting dirty linen to laundry.
Bending/kneeling for dusting, handling room service trays and dishes.
Ability to communicate with guests and staff.
Mobility to reach storage, windows, ledges, and under furniture.
Continuous standing and walking required.
Climbing stairs, approximately 40 steps, about 15% of shifts.
No driving required.
Environment Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate‑controlled environment. Excessive heat and humidity in laundry areas. Inside 95% of shift.
