Volleyball Coach - AMS (26-27)

Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching Date Posted: 1/21/2026 Location: Andover Middle School Purpose: The coach helps students achieve a high level of skill and an appreciation for the values and discipline related to the sport or activity and sportsmanship. The general safety and welfare of each participant shall be the primary concern. The coach provides leadership and coordination in the assigned activity or sport. Qualifications: Licensed teacher or eligible for Rule 10 approval through the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA). Preference will be given to current licensed employees of the district. First aid, CPR, and AED certification required. Valid driver's license required. Supervisor: Assistant Principal/Athletic Director ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversees tryouts and selects participants in accordance with established guidelinesCoaches individual participants in the skills necessary for achievement in the sportPlans and schedules a regular program of practiceWorks closely with the Activity Director and/or Assistant Principal in scheduling contests, practices, meets, and competitionsRecommends equipment, supplies, and uniforms for purchasePrepares and adheres to approved budgetMaintains attendance forms, insurance records, physical forms, and other required paperworkOversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport or activity is conducted and when students are presentEstablishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition for the sport or activityAttends required meetings of the KSHSAAFulfills test requirements of the KSHSAAArranges for transportationMaintains an accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms, and suppliesCommunicates effectively and promotes positive interpersonal relationshipsInforms students, families, and the community of school policies, activities, eligibility, and team rules. Will compile and distribute a team handbook.Implements policies focused on character education and development of skills important for post-secondary successEnsures compliance with building athletic eligibility policies and works with students on academic progressWorks to transition students to college athletic opportunitiesDistributes and cares for equipmentEstablishes a sound program of injury preventionEnsures supervision for all contests, meets, and practicesSubmits budget requests to the building principalSupervises participants after practice, meets, or games until their transportation home is securedSupervises, evaluates, recommends hires and terminations of Assistant CoachesSupports the District's educational mission for all students and implements all Board regulations and policies in a fair and equitable mannerPerforms other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the superintendent or designee may assign PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend, and/or reach.Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
