Fund is a grassroots nonprofit rooted in environmental justice, community art, and education. We protect, design, and activate community gardens and open spaces across New York City, especially in the Lower East Side and South Bronx.Our initiatives, like Sprouting Justice and Rise Up! Green the Bronx!, combine ecological restoration, children’s education, and public art. We center the leadership and voices of BIPOC communities most impacted by environmental racism and climate vulnerability.As we grow our funding and capacity, we are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Grants Assistant Intern who is excited to learn and support a living ecosystem of urban gardens, living tree structures, and public green design.🌱 Role DescriptionThis Grants Assistant Internship is a full-time (or structured part-time) opportunity located in New York City (on-site preferred). You’ll work directly with the Executive Director and our small, dedicated team to support the research, development, and administration of public and private grants, especially:NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) – programming & capital grantsNYC Parks Capital projects & tree canopy effortsCity Council discretionary funds (e.g., Council Members Marte & Ayala)Collaborative grants with organizations like South Bronx UniteFederal and foundation funding (e.g., EPA EJ grants via Fordham)You will also learn how to work within Bloomerang, a leading CRM platform for nonprofit donor and grant management.🛠 ResponsibilitiesAssist in writing and editing proposals and supporting documentsConduct prospect research for public and private fundersOrganize grant application calendars and reporting deadlinesPrepare materials for collaborative meetings with community partnersMaintain records and data in BloomerangParticipate in on-site community events as needed (e.g., garden visits, tabling).Help shape the foundation of a long-term philanthropic strategy centered on justice, equity, and community voice.💡 QualificationsStrong writing and communication skillsExperience or coursework in philanthropy, nonprofit management, urban planning, or grantwritingExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailComfort working in a collaborative and multicultural environmentInterest in environmental and social justice, especially in BIPOC-led communitiesFamiliarity with CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, Airtable) is a plusLived or community-based experience in NYC’s LES, South Bronx, or similar neighborhoods is a bonus📍 Internship DetailsUnpaid position, but includes local travel & food stipendsFlexible start/end dates 32 hours/week with the option to scaleCan qualify for college credit depending on the institutionOpportunities for growth into paid seasonal roles or fellowshipsJoin a passionate team working toward climate justice and healing through public art and urban greening✨ To ApplyPlease email the following to info@moregardens.orgwith subject:Grants Assistant Internship Application – [Your Name]ResumeBrief cover letter (1 page max), including a Short paragraph on why you care about community-centered grant writing, and any links to your recent grant-related papers, website, or grant portfolio are recommended.🌿 Learn more at https://www.moregardens.org/internships
