This role oversees regulatory compliance, infection control practices, departmental policies and procedures, surveys, payroll, scheduling, staffing, reporting, environmental operations, inventory management, and all EVS-related systems and equipment.\n\nThe EVS Supervisor handles sensitive and confidential information and must exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.\n\nDepending on operational needs or specific projects, this position may require flexibility in work locations, hours, and shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This is an essential role and may require reporting during inclement weather or emergency situations to ensure continuous operations.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nOversee and coordinate daily Environmental Services operations across assigned areas and shifts\nEnsure all patient care areas, public spaces, and support departments meet Montefiore Einstein cleanliness and infection control standards\nMonitor and enforce compliance with OSHA, CDC, and hospital regulatory requirements and infection prevention guidelines\nSupervise, train, coach, and evaluate EVS staff to ensure performance expectations are consistently met\nManage staffing schedules, payroll processes, and workforce planning to meet operational needs\nConduct routine inspections, quality audits, and readiness for internal/external surveys; address deficiencies promptly\nMaintain department policies and procedures and ensure adherence across the team\nOversee inventory management of supplies and equipment; coordinate procurement as needed\nCollaborate with nursing, facilities, infection prevention, and leadership teams to support patient care operations\nRespond to urgent or emergency cleaning needs, including isolation rooms, spills, and discharge cleans\nUtilize EVS systems and applications for reporting, tracking performance, and operational efficiency\nDocument incidents, staff performance, inspections, and compliance activities as required\n\nQualifications\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred\n2–5 years of Environmental Services, housekeeping, or related experience in a healthcare setting\nMinimum 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred\nStrong knowledge of infection control standards, cleaning procedures, and regulatory compliance\nExperience managing staff schedules, payroll, and operational reporting preferred\nProficiency with EVS-related systems, equipment, and technology\nAbility to lead teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment\n\nSkills & Competencies\n\nLeadership and team development\nStrong organizational and communication skills\nAttention to detail and quality assurance\nProblem-solving and decision-making\nKnowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory standards\nCustomer service and patient-centered mindset\nAbility to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion\n\nWork Environment & Physical Requirements\n\nHospital setting with exposure to cleaning chemicals and biohazard materials\nRequires prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting\nMust be able to work flexible schedules, including off-shifts, weekends, and holidays\nMay be required to work at varying locations based on operational needs\n\nMontefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
