Primary Care Scribe
POSITION SUMMARY: The Scribe assists the doctor by transcribing appropriate data into the patient medical record during the patient exam in order to optimize the doctor’s time with patients. This position will also assist the technician by performing various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, and preparing the exam room.What We OfferCompetitive hourly wage based on previous experience6.5 paid holidays per year + 2 Floating holidaysApproximately 8 days of PTO within first yearFull slate of benefits to include health, dental, vision, and 401kGrowth and wage increase through company paid certification programEssential ResponsibilitiesDuring the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor.Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor’s recommendations.Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by leadership.Supplementary ResponsibilitiesDepending upon the patient volume and/or patient flow, you may be required to perform the following tasks:Prepare patients for eye examinations and vision therapy; confidentially instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures.Perform various vision and diagnostic tests.Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHR.Assist with answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and effectively maintaining appointment books for doctors, as well as assist in completing recalls.Occasional travel to support other offices may be requested.Education And/Or ExperienceHigh school graduate or equivalent.Previous experience in optometry is preferred.CompetenciesProficient in EHR, including exceptional keyboarding skillsExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsDetail oriented with strong organizational skillsQuality of work reflects efficiency and accuracyAbility to obtain knowledge and skills on the job or through educational coursesA strong commitment to helping peoplePolite, professional, and courteousAbility to lead, motivate and promote a team environmentProactive, adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure to accomplish projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environmentPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA Guidelines)Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing.Physical requirements: Light work.
