This hands-on role blends technical ownership, collaboration, and strategic thinking to improve email production workflows, build reusable systems, and support international templating needs.\n\n10 hours/week | Pacific Time (PT)\n\nResponsibilities\n\nOwn and improve an existing email development tool, with a focus on scaling its capabilities and increasing production quality\n\nPartner with design, marketing technology, and engineering teams to translate visual designs into production-ready email HTML\n\nBuild and maintain a modular component library for common email elements such as headers, footers, CTAs, content sections, and image blocks\n\nCreate email templates that work across multiple marketing automation platforms, including Iterable and HubSpot\n\nSupport platform-specific requirements such as merge tags, HubL, and fields.json implementation\n\nEstablish and refine QA processes to validate rendering across major email clients and devices\n\nHelp ensure templates meet accessibility standards and support inclusive, usable email experiences\n\nDevelop documentation, usage guides, and training materials to support team adoption and consistency\n\nCollaborate on international template needs, including localized variants and market-specific rendering considerations\n\nBalance ongoing support requests with longer-term platform improvements and workflow efficiency\n\nSkills\n\n6-8+ years of professional email development experience\n\nStrong expertise in HTML, CSS, and MJML for email development\n\nHands-on experience with Iterable and/or HubSpot\n\nExperience building and maintaining reusable email component libraries or design systems\n\nDeep understanding of email rendering behavior across major clients, especially Outlook\n\nExperience implementing dark mode considerations in email\n\nAbility to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver within a structured timeline\n\nClear written communication skills for documentation and async collaboration\n\nAbility to collaborate effectively across functions and contribute to team leadership when needed\n\nPreferred Skills\n\nExperience supporting email localization for markets such as Korea, Japan, Germany, and France\n\nFamiliarity with CJK font stacks, line-height adjustments, and text expansion planning\n\nExperience with Figma or other design-to-code workflows\n\nBackground in lifecycle marketing or product marketing email programs\n\nExposure to AI tools or AI-enabled workflows in email development\n\nExperience working in fast-paced environments where priorities may shift quickly\n\nExperience supporting high-volume email programs with broad reach\n\nHorizontal Talent is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued and everyone has the opportunity to contribute and grow.
