This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and alignment of certification programs with the Association's strategic goals and objectives. The Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders to support and enhance education initiatives related to practice and continuing professional development. This role involves a comprehensive approach to program management, including strategic planning, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of certification processes and standards. The Manager will also engage with volunteer subject matter experts, coordinate with external vendors, and support various organizational initiatives to drive excellence in advanced certification and professional development.WORK ENVIRONMENT (Remote):This position is fully remote with hybrid options in our Bethesda, MD headquarters.POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:Manages all aspects of AOTA’s Advanced Certification Programs.Monitors programmatic outcomes program for assigned projects and integrates the outcomes in programmatic planning and enhancement strategies.Collaborates with department and association leadership to ensure projects and programs are progressing as expected.Manages the operations of the exam-based program including application, committee involvement, website and marketing content, applicant and certificate communications, scoring/results, and complaints/appeals.Recruit, track, and support volunteer subject matter experts for exam development and commission work.Maintain project timelines for exam development and recertification cycles.Function as primary program contact for applicants, candidates, certificates, and exam vendor.Provides member stewardship to member volunteersPlans and organizes professional meetings and events (including but not limited to assembling meeting materials, distribute announcements, invitations, manage ongoing correspondence with attendees, distribute, collect and process expense reports) related.Develops and regularly assesses operational strategies to improve workflow and implementation of the project objective(s). Implements changes to the program as indicated by ongoing assessment.Serves as AOTA Staff Liaison to the Occupational Therapy Advanced Certification Commission (OTACC) and the Commission on Continuing Competence and Professional Development (CCCPD). This includes the coordination of meetings, document reviews and revisions, and collaboration with other association groups to disseminate resources.Actively participates in assigned staff teams for projects related to practice improvement and other areas of healthcare quality including identifying potential project issues and providing content expertise to the project.Engages in a variety of communication activities, both internal and external to the organization, to promote the mission of AOTA related to credentialing and continuing competence.Writes, contributes to and edits reports and materials of the Association.Supports implementation of strategic initiatives; participating in the development of organizational policies and procedures; and supporting organizational improvement and enhancement groups and activities.Models the AOTA culture values throughout the workplace and employs them in all interactions with peers, direct reports, managers, volunteers, members, and other stakeholders.Embraces diversity and works proactively with peers and senior leadership to foster an equitable and inclusive workplace.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:Bachelor’s s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience may be considered.Master’s degree is not required but highly desired.American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential is a plus.Six or more years of related work experience in certification or as a project manager.Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of addressing issues related to board certification programs.Prior experience in project management.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.Ability to collaborate effectively by building relationships across all departments and levels.Must demonstrate good judgement and mature business skills, a high level of organizational and time management skills, and flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations.Skilled in critical thinking, analysis, and determining project direction.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Proficient in the use of project management tools like ASANA, Microsoft Project, etc.Problem solving, judgment and/or innovative thinking to accomplish very broadly defined and/or technically complex responsibilities of the position.CORE COMPETENCIES (All AOTA Staff):Communication: Clearly conveys and receives information and ideas through a variety of media; conveys to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the listener, helps them understand and retain the message, and invites response and feedback and receives with respect and open mindedness.
