This role requires strong critical thinking and communication skills, with significant experience in shift lead or team lead positions. The technician supports surgical services by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety, collaborating closely with operating room staff, and occasionally filling in as shift lead. Responsibilities: Perform sterilization and decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment using various autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners. Ensure all instruments meet hospital and regulatory standards for cleanliness and functionality before surgical procedures. Lead or precept team members as needed, providing guidance and support in daily operations. Manage inventory and coordinate supply needs for surgical services. Communicate effectively with surgical and clinical staff to ensure timely instrument availability. Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent sterilization needs. Adhere to hospital policies and safety protocols at all times. Maintain accurate documentation and records related to sterile processing activities. Required Skills & Certifications: Minimum of 5 years sterile processing experience, including at least 3 years in shift lead, precepting, or team lead roles within a hospital setting. Current BLS certification. Certification as a Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification. Proficiency with Da Vinci Xi, Getinge Autoclave, Amsco Autoclave, Steris V-Pro, Steris System 1e, Getinge 86 series washer, and Triton 72 ultrasonic cleaner. Strong critical thinking and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage variable shifts. Preferred Skills & Certifications: Experience with Epic charting system. Familiarity with acute care hospital sterile processing protocols. Special Considerations: On-call availability is required, including weekday and weekend shifts. Variable shifts primarily covering 1900-0330 and 2130-0600, with additional shifts ranging from early morning to evening. Weekend work may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs. No first-time travelers accepted for this position. Requests for scheduling accommodations due to outside employment will not be considered. Must be local within a 50-mile radius. RTO (Return to Office) restrictions apply and must be included at time of submission. Scheduling: Five 8-hour shifts per week with variable shift times including 0500-1330, 0630-1500, 0700-1530, 1000-1830, 1330-2200, 1900-0330, and 2130-0600. On-call shifts are scheduled as 2200-0700 on weekdays and 0700-1900 or 0700-0700 on weekends and holidays.
