Your Role as an Intake/Outreach Worker:
This role is suited for individuals who are looking to play a key role in our Resource Center by welcoming clients, donors, and volunteers into the building. We are looking for someone who is outgoing, engaging and upholds high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement and Advocacy (50-70%):
Build and maintain relationships with school staff, community resources, agency partners, and other key stakeholders.
Develop rapport and trust with youth and families, assessing their needs as they come into our drop in center, and connecting them with case managers, and other services as appropriate.
Provide direct support to clients, including distributing basic supplies, offering emergency service linkages, and ensuring clients are aware of Maslow Project’s resources.
Triage client needs and maintain a safe environment in the drop in center for all ages.
Outreach and Community Engagement (30-50%):
Conduct street and community outreach to locate and connect with youth and families who may be eligible for services.
Meet clients where they are, both physically and emotionally, to provide tailored support.
Collaborate with other outreach providers to coordinate efforts and share resources.
Promote community awareness of homeless youth issues and Maslow Project services.
Participate in annual efforts like the Point in Time Count to identify unsheltered youth and families.
Eligibility requirements include:
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education (2 years of college or relevant experience). We recognize the value of formal education and relevant life experiences. Equivalent life experiences or specialized training relevant to the role will also be considered.
Experience: A minimum of two years of direct experience in supporting youth and families, with at least one year of customer service experience. This can include paid employment, internships, volunteer work, or relevant personal experiences.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent customer service skills, including active listening, professional etiquette, and ability to multitask and triage in a fast passed environment. Knowledge of community resources a plus!
Employee Expectations: Willingness to collaborate and maintain positive relationships with clients, team members, and community partners. Evidence of professional communication, problem-solving, and maintaining boundaries, as well as usual workplace expectations.

Physical and Working Conditions:
This role involves a mix of office work, community engagement, and occasional outdoor activities in various weather conditions. Physical demands include walking, standing, lifting, and occasional driving.
