Accessibility Technologist

Pay Grade: Professional 4The Accessibility Technologist provides accessibility guidance and support to faculty, ensuring that digital content used in learning environments is accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. This position collaborates with faculty to create inclusive educational experiences, develops and delivers training on accessibility best practices, and periodically audits courses to ensure compliance with accessibility standards., To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.Provides advice and support to faculty in the design of course materials, ensuring they meet accessibility standardsResearches, develops, markets, and conducts professional development opportunities for faculty on Title II regulations, accessibility best practices, and accessible design principlesPeriodically reviews and audist courses in the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility standards, and recommend improvements where necessaryProvides support and technical solutions for faculty and staff to support students with disabilities in the learning environmentCollaborates and works closely with the Disability Support Services team to support students with accessing digital contentEvaluates new requests for teaching and learning software, applications, and third party LMS integrations to ensure WCAG standards are adhered toReviews accessibility related support requests and offers guidance to faculty through tickets, calls, and chatProvides training and support to Academic Technologies team to ensure consistent messaging and user support are provided,Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEffectively communicate complex technical matters related to disabilities both verbally and in writing, and work comfortably with diverse populationsCommitment to encouraging and participating in delivering an inclusive learning environment for all studentsAbility to work efficiently under time constraints; ability to multi-task/prioritizeStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate recordsMust possess excellent communication, technical, project management, organizational, and time management skillsProficient in instructional design principles, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and similar conceptsRequirementsBachelor's degreeExperience with HTML and WCAG 2.0 accessibility standardsKnowledge of how individuals with disabilities access utilize the internet and applications for learningProficiency with Microsoft 365, internet browsers, and other widely adopted applications used in the learning environmentProficiency with Learning Management Systems, preferably BlackboardMust be able to work occasionally in the eveningValid Driver's license and approval required by the College’s liability insurance carrierPreferencesMaster's degree in Instructional Design or related fieldOnline teaching experienceCertified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) certificationExperience with screen readers, such as JAWS, to navigate digital contentExperience captioning videos
