This highly customer-facing role combines software engineering, DevOps, Kubernetes, Linux, and infrastructure automation in support of satellite communications systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy solutions using C++ or Python, Kubernetes, GPU technologies, and modern DevOps practices while helping ensure systems meet operational and user requirements.\r\nKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop, deploy, and sustain mission-critical software and infrastructure solutions\r\nDevelop software and automation using C++ and/or Python\r\nDesign, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments\r\nSupport containerized applications, cluster networking, storage, monitoring, and security\r\nAutomate system configuration and deployment using Ansible, Bash, Python, and Git-based workflows\r\nConfigure, troubleshoot, and secure Linux environments, including RHEL and Rocky Linux\r\nSupport CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and automated testing\r\nTroubleshoot networking, software, infrastructure, and deployment issues\r\nCollaborate directly with customers and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions\r\nSupport GPU technologies and satellite/RF-related applications\r\nRequired Skills and QualificationsStrong Software Engineering and/or DevOps experience\r\nDevelopment experience with C++ and/or Python\r\nAdvanced Linux administration and troubleshooting experience\r\nExperience with Kubernetes and containerized applications\r\nExperience with DevOps, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and automation\r\nExperience with Ansible and/or similar automation technologies\r\nStrong troubleshooting and customer-facing communication skills\r\nDesired SkillsRancher and RKE2\r\nKubernetes cluster design, lifecycle management, networking, storage, security, and high availability\r\nHelm and CNCF technologies\r\nCKA certification\r\nAnsible playbook and role development\r\nBash, Go, YAML, and JSON\r\nGPU technologies\r\nNetworking, including switching, routing, and VLANs\r\nPXE boot and automated OS deployment\r\nRF data processing, RF application development, and/or satellite communications experience\r\nEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus twenty (20) years of relevant Software Engineering experience; OR\r\nTwenty-four (24) years of relevant Software Engineering experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.\r\nClearance RequirementMust possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role\r\nWhy Choose Independent SoftwareAt Independent Software, our people are the mission.
