This role involves performing independent design evaluations, project management, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with various departments and external partners to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions for building systems.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nPerform engineering design evaluations and lead project design specific to HVAC systems, including both decentralized and centralized systems.\nConduct independent design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.\nAnalyze existing HVAC systems in buildings and recommend design improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.\nPrepare engineering analyses for projects, including preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.\nPrepare detailed engineering drawings and layouts using Revit and/or AutoCAD.\nDevelop technical construction specifications for project documentation.\nReview designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, engineering standards, and best practices.\nPerform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process.\nConduct site visits to verify design implementations and identify potential issues.\nAssist with project scheduling and work assignment to team members as needed.\nManage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and within-budget project delivery.\nDeliver technical presentations to internal teams and external clients as required during the design process.\nCommunicate complex engineering concepts effectively to various stakeholders.\nAssist with other duties as assigned to support the engineering team and project requirements.\nStay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nRequired Experience\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.\nMinimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on HVAC design and systems.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) licensure is required.\nThorough understanding of HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, exhaust equipment, and terminal units.\nKnowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes, safety laws, and standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE).\n\nRequired Skills\nProficiency in using engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, 3D CAD, and BIM systems.\nAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).\nAbility to generate creative solutions, translate concepts into detailed designs, and apply design principles with precision.\nProficiency in performing building load, pressure loss, ventilation, and fuel gas calculations.\nHigh accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of engineering design and documentation.\nAbility to identify and avoid potential errors that could impact project outcomes.\nEffective communication skills for presenting information clearly, both verbally and in writing.\nAbility to listen, interpret complex information, and convey technical concepts to various audiences.\nDemonstrates leadership abilities and can take on roles of authority when necessary.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with team members, other departments, and external partners.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving engineering issues.
