Company DescriptionThe SPLASH educational mission (Students Participating in Learning Aquatic Science and History) is to build awareness of the Delaware River Watershed with exciting, hands-on educational experiences designed for people of all ages. Since 2004, SPLASH Floating Classroom has delighted school-age and adult groups with hands-on, engaging lessons with the importance of the vital Delaware River as the focus. Role DescriptionThis is a part-time, on-site Summer Intern role in Mercer County NJ, focusing on Environmental Education. The intern will assist with leading educational sessions: SPLASH home site (D&R Canal State Park in Lambertville); client sites, and Mercer County Marina. Opportunity to learn from veteran instructors; lesson plans available. Opportunity to work with Citizen Science director (collection of chemical data on the River and Lambertville tributaries)Stipend: $750QualificationsPassion for environmental education, aquatic ecosystems, STEMStrong skills in communication, public speaking, and teaching or engaging with groupsAbility to perform hands-on activities such as water sampling and collection of macroinvertebratesAbility to work collaboratively and adapt to an outdoor, dynamic environmentCurrently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Environmental Science, Education, History, Biology, or a related field. GPA 3.0 or higher preferred. Teaching ExperienceValid driver’s license and ability to travel (Mercer County primarily)
