Key Responsibilities
Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles or equipmentPerform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotationsRepair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipmentProvide consultation on repair costs and work needed to be doneMaintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and service historyOrder parts from suppliers, as neededTest vehicles and equipment to ensure repairs are successful and systems function properlyCommunicate with customers or supervisors about repair needs, timelines, and costsKeep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulationsQualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification preferredProven experience as a mechanic (automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, etc.)Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniquesPhysical stamina and dexterity to lift heavy parts and work in various positionsProblem-solving skills and attention to detailValid driver’s licenseWork Environment
Shop or garage setting with exposure to noise, tools, and machineryMay require overtime, weekend shifts, or emergency repairs depending on business needs
