Supervises and coordinates special education classroom programs.Serves as Chairperson of the Administrative Admissions Release Committee.Oversees the School Based Admissions Release Committee process in the schools. Works with testing personnel to ensure the efficient operation of referral-consultation-testing-placement process.Ensures the Child Find Tracking System is implemented, timelines are met, and re-evaluations are completed.Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records of all children receiving special education services.Informs staff, of Franklin County Schools, of the implications of legal requirements of special education for them as teachers and principals. Assist with in-service for special education teachers.Works cooperatively with representatives from Kentucky Department of Education in implementing proper identification, evaluation, and placement.Coordinates home instruction program for homebound and hospitalized students.Arranges for special transportation, and other related services, for all children placed in special classes.Consults with parents of students enrolled in the program.Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKentucky Teaching Certificate in special education area, endorsement as Teacher Consultant.MA Degree in special education area.Fifteen years teaching experience with exceptional children, or appropriate related professional experience.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT* Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.EVALUATIONPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for evaluation.
