The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) works within the scope of practice as defined by the NYS Education Department for speech language pathologists. The SLP practices his/her duties in a manner that is compliant with federal, state, and local codes, rules, regulations, and law.\nJoin our team! Make a difference in the lives of others.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nEvaluates the degree of function and disability of patients unless contraindicated by his/her professional judgment or a doctor’s written order.\nPerforms speech language pathology treatment services upon the written order or referral of a licensed physician, in accordance with accepted professional standards and with methodology that stimulates improved oral-motor functioning, word retrieval, sentence formation and intelligibility, social-verbal interaction, laryngeal/pharyngeal functioning, and cognition, auditory comprehension, and swallowing.\nDevelops a treatment plan based on patient evaluation and physician orders, designed to restore, improve, or compensate communication efficiency and swallowing.\nRecords on patient charts all evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, consultations, and discharge summaries, within the time frames established by policy and procedure.
