In this role, you'll develop and improve Linux-based firmware, troubleshoot complex software issues, and help build reliable software for our networking products.\n\n*What You'll Do:*\n\n*Embedded Linux Development & Debugging*\n\n* Develop, modify, debug, and maintain embedded Linux firmware and system software\n* Investigate software defects, boot problems, crashes, build failures, and performance issues, and implement and test fixes\n* Work with Linux system services, packages, kernel components, and hardware-specific software as needed\n* Investigate unfamiliar codebases, identify root causes, and implement maintainable solutions\n\n*Build Systems & Software Integration*\n\n* Integrate third-party and open-source components, including updates and patches\n* Maintain cross-compilation toolchains, build configurations, scripts, and dependencies\n* Help improve repeatable builds and automation\n* Participate in code reviews, testing, technical documentation, and cross-functional problem solving\n\n*Open-Source Compliance*\n\n* Support open-source software compliance by tracking components and licenses\n* Review source-code availability and licensing requirements\n* Organize source releases, patches, and build instructions\n* Work with engineering teams to support open-source development practices\n\n*What We're Looking For:*\n\n* 3+ years of experience in embedded Linux, firmware engineering, or Linux systems programming\n* Strong C programming skills and hands-on experience developing and debugging Linux software\n* Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals, including processes, memory, filesystems, and system interfaces\n* Experience with Git, shell scripting, Linux build tools (such as Make), and cross-compilation environments\n* Understanding of open-source development practices and basic GPL licensing principles\n* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand unfamiliar code and deliver maintainable fixes\n* Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience\n\n*Nice to Have:*\n\n* Experience with OpenWrt, Yocto, Buildroot, or similar embedded Linux platforms\n* Familiarity with Linux kernel modules, drivers, bootloaders, device trees, or board support packages\n* Knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, routing, and VPNs\n* Experience with Docker, CI/CD, Python, automated build systems, or hardware debugging\n* Familiarity with GPL source releases, SBOMs, SPDX, license scanning, or firmware security\n* Contributions to open-source software or independent technical projects\n\n*What We Offer:*\n\n* Competitive base salary\n* Health, dental, and vision insurance\n* 401(k) retirement plan\n* Paid time off (PTO)\n* Parental leave\n* Opportunities for professional growth\n\n*Job Type*: Full-time\n\n*Work Location*: On-site in Chantilly, VA\n\nPay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year\n\nBenefits:\n* 401(k)\n* Dental insurance\n* Flexible schedule\n* Health insurance\n* Paid time off\n* Parental leave\n* Relocation assistance\n* Vision insurance\n\nApplication Question(s):\n* This is an onsite job.
