We’re looking for a senior engineer who’s comfortable moving across the stack - backend services, data analytics, cloud infrastructure, and a modern web frontend - and who cares as much about how we make decisions as the code we ship.ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain Ruby on Rails applications with PostgreSQL, including progressive web applications optimized for mobile, desktop, and offline useDesign and implement RESTful APIs, database schemas, and data models for mission-critical defense and logistics systemsBuild and maintain durable, multi-source data ingestion pipelines that transform, deduplicate, and route data across relational, graph, and analytical storesDevelop interactive web applications that enable users to visualize, query, and work with complex operational dataDesign data access patterns that leverage the strengths of relational, graph, and analytical databasesDeploy and manage applications on Kubernetes using containerization, reproducible builds, and secure software supply-chain practicesBuild end-to-end observability across applications and infrastructure, including traces, metrics, logs, and operational dashboardsImplement authentication, authorization, security, and compliance best practices, including integrations with DoD systems and secure data pipelinesOptimize application and data performance for scalability, reliability, and disconnected or low-connectivity environmentsPartner with product and design teams to translate mission and user requirements into technical solutions that support military readiness and logistics operationsParticipate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews while maintaining high standards for code quality, testing, and maintainabilityRequirements5-10 years of experience in full stack developmentStrong experience with Ruby on Rails, Python, Django, and DockerExperience with React, Angular, Tailwind, Turbo.js, and/or JavascriptFamiliarity with Rust's async ecosystem (e.g., Tokio, Axum, Tower, tracing)Hands-on experience deploying and operating services in Kubernetes at scale, including managed clusters, Helm charts, and troubleshooting in-cluster issuesExperience building modern web applications using React, TypeScript, Vite, and mapping librariesExperience implementing and maintaining OpenTelemetry instrumentation beyond default configurationsStrong API and software abstraction design skills, with experience designing systems across heterogeneous backends and making thoughtful architectural trade offsExcellent technical communication skills, including writing design documents, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), acceptance criteria, and other engineering documentation before implementationCompensationSalary ($130,000-$175,000) + Equity Salary is determined by the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market dataBenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision coverageHSA/FSA optionsParental Leave401(k): 100% match for the first 6% contributedUnlimited Paid Time OffHome Office StipendThis position will be open on our website until it is successfully filled.
