Engineering Manager PDM

Responsible for leading the Indian Motorcycle Engineering Product Data Management team driving high quality and accurate product data including CAD master models, drawings, bill of materials, and product configurations. Serve as the lead for engineering design & release processes and standards. Track and analyze data to develop improvements and process updates related to design and design data management across motorcycle engineering. Teach and mentor designers, project analysts and engineers in best practices. Develop and manage department strategy, planning, and tactical execution to achieve organizational goals. Focus on systemic process improvements within and outside of the Indian Motorcycle Engineering group by developing systems and best practices necessary to add value to the business. Qualified candidate should be able to effectively communicate with stake holders across the business unit. Position is located in the Wyoming, MN Product Development Center. Location: Wyoming, MNJob Level: ManagerSummary of ResponsibilitiesTechnical duties:Lead overall component/assembly creation, bill of material creation and design release processes.Develop processes, best practices and strategy related to product data management across motorcycle engineering.  Develop and lead training around design release best practices and process changes.Track systemic issues and drive proactive improvements into standard work and processes.Work with platform teams, project analysts and master modelers to develop best practices, standards and processes.Provide guidance to manufacturing and quality organizations for production and supplier related items related to engineering data management.Execute design, development, testing, and drawing tasks as needed to ensure project objectives are met per schedule.Lead and participate in project reviews to ensure adequate input and involvement from PDM group.Actively participates in engineering peer groups and knowledge management efforts as needed.Interact with IT and suppliers for engineering systems (CAD/ PDM). Other duties as assigned. Supervisory duties:Supervise, coach, motivate and develop a team of 8-10 designers, project analysts and design engineers. Responsible for employee hiring, compensation recommendations, and discipline.Mentor, motivate and coach employees to further organizational objectives and promote employee development. Sets goals and conduct performance reviews for team members.Coordinate design and analyst resources to support active design projects.Assist functional manager to plan and track budgets and resource forecasts for area of ownership.Monitor resources and task assignments within the team; coordinates issue resolution with functional managers.Develops, manages, and controls departmental budget. Experience & SkillsMinimum of eight years of experience in a product development organization.Experience in design and project engineering required.Passion for continuous improvement. Demonstrated ability to create and improve processes, best practices and standards.Excellent leadership and motivational ability. Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and support personnel.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate cross functionally.Hands on problem solver with strong technical background.Technical and riding experience with motorcycles or powersports vehicles preferred.Quality-oriented and customer focused.Decisive and prone to action.Excellent project planning, organizing, and administrative skills.Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.CREO, Windchill, PRS, AS400 and Reliance experience preferred. EducationB.S. Engineering Degree or MS Engineering Degree Working ConditionsFast paced office environmentTravel as needed (less than 10%) Compensation & Benefits: The starting pay range for Minnesota is $135,000 to $165,000 per year.
