Maintenance of building and other support functions is also a aspect of this position.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\n\nWork at following and promoting company safety rules and policies and following accepted safe work practices\nSafely operate forklifts to move equipment and materials to and from the production areas, scales, warehouse, etc.\nSafely operate the man-lift and observe weight and height limits.\nObserve mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.\nDismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.\nExamine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections and performance suitability.\nInspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.\nAdjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.\nRepair or replace defective parts. Install special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricate and clean parts.\nStart devices to test their performance.\nSet up and operate drill press, hydraulic press and cut off saw. Use various other hand and shop tools to make and repair parts and equipment.\nFabricate new equipment or modify existing equipment to meet production requirements.\nPossess essential mechanical skills to be able to trouble shoot equipment malfunctions and to be able to make proper repairs.\nPerform preventative maintenance on extrusion equipment and other related fields as needed.\nPerform minor tune-up and maintenance on all forklifts.\nKnow the basic extrusion process and assist the production department in all aspects of PVC pipe manufacture\nCommunicate well with other employees and operators to determine repair problems needed.\nAssist other employees when needed and work successfully in a self-managed work team.\nBe a self-starter and perform duties with little direct supervision.\nAttend required training sessions, wear the required safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and other safety equipment that might be required for certain jobs or tasks.\nBe willing to learn new tasks and take on individual responsibilities.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
