Incumbents manage and direct the activities of The Network Support Section.\r\nThe Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. This role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient connectivity across all systems and users to support daily operations. The Network Administrator configures and manages network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems. They continuously monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and respond to outages to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity. This position also enforces network security measures, manages user access controls, and supports system updates, backups, and disaster recovery efforts. In addition, the Network Administrator maintains technical documentation and collaborates with IT staff and stakeholders to support infrastructure improvements and technology initiatives.\r\nSafety is a critical factor with NHA and all employees will adhere to Safety Policies and ensure Safety is how we perform our duties.\r\nEssential Duties\r\nInstall, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related systems to ensure a stable and efficient network environment\r\nMonitor network performance, analyze traffic, and proactively troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues to minimize downtime\r\nImplement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls to protect organizational data\r\nAdminister user accounts, permissions, and authentication systems while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and security standards\r\nPerform routine system maintenance, including updates, patches, firmware upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery testing to maintain system integrity\r\nMaintain accurate network documentation, including configurations, diagrams, procedures, and change management records\r\nCollaborate with IT staff, vendors, and service providers on network projects, while evaluating and recommending improvements, upgrades, and new technologies\r\nPerforms other duties of a similar nature or level.\r\nTraining and Experience\r\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field; three years of network administration, managing network infrastructure, installation, configuration, monitoring or trouble shooting; 3 years' experience implementing and maintaining network system updates, and performance optimization practices; or an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the essential responsibilities of the assigned position.\r\nLicensing Requirements\r\nValid Driver's License\r\nCisco Certified Network Associate preferred\r\nComp TIA Network preferred\r\nKnowledge\r\nPrinciples of computer networking, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies\r\nNetwork hardware and infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points\r\nNetwork security principles, including access controls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure configuration practices\r\nNetwork monitoring and diagnostic tools for performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning\r\nServer and operating system environments (e.g., Windows Server and/or Linux basics)\r\nBackup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning concepts\r\nVirtualization and cloud networking concepts (e.g., Azure, AWS, or similar platforms, if applicable)\r\nIT documentation practices, including network diagrams, configuration records, and change management procedures\r\nBasic understanding of cybersecurity principles and risk mitigation strategies\r\nSkills\r\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving network issues\r\nAbility to configure, manage, and maintain network hardware and software systems\r\nKnowledge of network security practices and ability to implement protective measures\r\nAnalytical skills to monitor network performance and identify optimization opportunities\r\nStrong attention to detail for system configuration, documentation, and change management\r\nAbility to prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues in a fast-paced environment\r\nProficiency in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools\r\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team to support IT operations and projects\r\nStrong organizational skills for maintaining accurate technical documentation and records Managing projects\r\nCommunication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work directions.\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\nPositions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.\r\nSedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
