Summary Description:Under direction, provides for the orderly operation of the school program as prescribed by MCPS, state and federal policies and procedures. Supports the need of the instructional program in providing services for the staff and students. Facilitates the teaching-learning process by providing appropriate educational opportunities for all students. Physical Demands: None Special Requirements: NoneKnowledge Skills Abilities:Thorough knowledge of early childhood and developmental behaviors as it relates to children with learning disabilities, intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, neurological disorders and speech and language disabilities. Ability to plan and organize a school program for students with multiple disabilities. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.Education Training Experience:Master^s degree in special education from an accredited college or university with related course work in administration, supervision and curriculum. Desirable to have experience as an assistant principal. Experience teaching special education children. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Meets Maryland certification requirements for principal, supervisor, or Administrator 11 and special education or related field.
