You will translate customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes into clear, accurate submittal packages that define scope, configuration, and technical intent—setting projects up for smooth approval and successful downstream execution.\nKey Responsibilities:\nReview customer RFQs, specifications, drawings, and project requirements for custom generator enclosure projects\nDevelop complete project submittal packages for customer and engineer-of-record approval, including:\nGeneral arrangement drawings and layouts\nEquipment and system descriptions\nCompliance narratives (codes, standards, and specifications)\nPreliminary Bills of Material (BOMs) and major component selections\nCollaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure proposed solutions are accurate, buildable, and aligned with company capabilities\nClearly define scope, assumptions, and exclusions to prevent downstream change orders and rework\nUse AutoCAD and SolidWorks to generate, revise, and maintain submittal drawings\nCoordinate revisions and responses throughout the customer submittal review and approval cycle\nIdentify technical risks, conflicts, or gaps early and proactively drive resolution\nSupport project handoff from approved submittals into detailed design and production\nMaintain internal standards for submittal quality, consistency, and document control\nRequirements:\nRequired Qualifications:\nExperience in an Application Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Project Engineer role supporting custom engineered products\nStrong ability to interpret customer specifications and translate requirements into clear, technically accurate documentation\nWorking knowledge of generator systems, diesel engine auxiliaries, or power generation equipment (highly desirable)\nFamiliarity with structural, mechanical, and enclosure-based systems; electrical knowledge is a plus\nProficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks\nStrong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with customers, consultants, and internal teams\nDetail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple submittals simultaneously\nExperience working in or closely with manufacturing environments preferred\nDegree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPackaging mechanical or electrical equipment (skids, modules, OEM assemblies)\nIndustrial enclosures, shelters, or containerized systems\nHVAC, cooling, or ventilation systems integrated into larger equipment packages\nPump, compressor, filtration, or fluid-handling systems\nStructural frames supporting mechanical and electrical components\nIndustrial equipment submittals, layouts, and approval drawings\nCode-driven designs where compliance and documentation are critical\nEqual Opportunity Employer/Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled\nTomball Controls is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
