The time has never been better to Embrace Your Great and work in an environment with the highest safety standards in the industry.\n\nThe Position: A Machine Operator performs multiple tasks using a variety of handheld pneumatic tools and manufacturing equipment. Also, a Machine Operator builds component assemblies, as well as install and assemble semi-trailers on a production line. Specific duties may vary from department to department.\nResponsibilities:\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nEnsure the final product is to the product specification based on blueprint and job order, accurately confirming the dimensions and tolerances. Operates machines in accordance to the blueprint specifications following the tooling instructions as well as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.\nSet the controls to synchronize machine actions for various operations on the product in the specific sequence.\nConduct initial startup on the machines when necessary to produce sample product, and then measure the part for conformance within specifications.\nAdjust setting of dies on the controls, ensuring that the product meets specifications and quality standards.\nSupply area with these materials using an overhead crane, forklift, hand / powered carts or carrying materials by hand.\nKeeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.\nObserve all safety and security procedures.\nUse of computer.\nPerform other routine duties as needed.\nQualifications:\nYOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)\nEmployee must be able to use pneumatic power tools and equipment of all types – including equipment specific to the department (i.e. welding equipment).\nEmployee must be able to accurately read a tape measure.\nEmployee must be able to perform and remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day.\nEmployee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description.\nEmployee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in use of all supplies.\nThe employee must perform the assigned tasks in a manner in which they meet or exceed the required production level.\nThe quantity of units, parts, assemblies and/ or installations that is expected will vary with the process being performed, customer specification, volume, and location.\nMachine Operator Specialist must inspect his/her product as instructed by standard operating procedures. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools.\nAbility to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following supervisor’s instruction.\nAptitude to learn and retain new information and work with minimal supervision.\nAbility to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing.\nAbility to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.\nAbility to communicate effectively in English.\nAbility to read and understand shop orders and prints.\nAbility to use computer to verify necessary information.\nAbility to organize and lead a crew of 3-4 employees.\n\nPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:\nOffice and plant environment.\nAbility to stand and move about on concrete 8-12 hours a day.\nAbility to see, walk, bend, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, carry, climb (including ladders), work overhead, push, and pull.\nAbility to do heavy lifting (up to 35 pounds) multiple times daily throughout shift.\nAbility to maneuver large parts and assemblies (up to 180 pounds) by pushing, pulling, and flipping them into place utilizing material handling lifting devices.\nAbility to work in a constant state of alertness.\nEmployees must wear all mandated PPE which includes at least protection for the eyes, ears, hands, head, body, and feet.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\n\nABOUT GREAT DANE\n\nWith a history dating back to 1900, Great Dane has established itself as a transportation solutions leader of today – delivering innovative products and exceptional services that help our customers and employees succeed.
