As we continue to expand our commercial portfolio, we're looking for technicians who excel in complex mechanical environments and take pride in delivering best-in-class service.OverviewThe Commercial HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems for our commercial customers. This role ensures all systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while providing exceptional service to customers. The technician is accountable for performing preventive maintenance, handling emergency service calls, accurately documenting work, and adhering to all safety, code, and company standards. Success in this position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, dependable HVAC solutions.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues on commercial systems including RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, VRF/VRV systems, air handlers, and exhaust systemsInspect, troubleshoot, and repair components such as compressors, motors, fans, TXVs, belts, bearings, contactors, sensors, and control boardsUtilize diagnostic tools [meters, gauges, leak detectors, combustion analyzers] to pinpoint system failuresPerform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment, including filter changes, coil cleaning, lubrication, belt replacement, and refrigerant checksDocument equipment condition and recommend corrective action to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifeService and repair walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines, and refrigeration systemsIdentify leaks, recover/recharge refrigerants, and ensure compliance with EPA regulationsWork with DDC and BAS systems [e.g., Trane, Johnson Controls, Honeywell] to adjust setpoints, troubleshoot alarms, and verify control sequencesRead and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprintsComplete digital service tickets with accurate notes, parts used, and labor hoursCommunicate findings and recommended repairs to customers clearly and professionallyProvide exceptional service to build strong customer relationshipsFollow OSHA, EPA, and company safety standardsMaintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in clean, safe working conditionEnsure all refrigerant handling complies with EPA 608 regulationsQualifications7-10 years of commercial HVAC service experienceEPA 608 Universal CertificationOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification [preferred]Certifications such as NATE, RSES, or OEM trainings [Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Daikin a plus]Familiarity with building codes, HVAC equipment manufacturers, and industry standardsExperience with chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and VAV systems Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manualsUnderstanding of brazing, soldering, vacuum pulls, leak detection, and electrical diagnosticsValid driver's license and meet company's MVR standardsWhat do we offerIn exchange for your expertise, Cortez Heating & Air offers an excellent employee benefit package including:Sign-on Bonus [up to $5,000, DOE]Overtime + Travel PayPerformance-Based Incentives + Repair SpiffsMedical / Dental / Vision401(K) with 4% Employer MatchPTO [up to 3 weeks] + Paid HolidaysReferral BonusesDirect Deposit / Payroll Savings PlanCompany vehicle, gas card, cell phone, and laptop/iPadAnnual Tool AllowanceAll resumes are held in confidence.
