Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports patient- and family-centred care as a key member of the healthcare team. Responsibilities include gathering patient data, supporting clinical activities, performing delegated medical tasks, administering medications, ensuring accurate documentation, and collaborating with providers and staff to deliver quality care. The CMA promotes adherence to policies, practice standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall patient experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide delegated patient care under the direction of a physician, authorised practitioner, or RN.
Follow the established patient care plan and prioritise tasks based on acuity and scheduling needs.
Perform clinical procedures, including medication administration, CPR assistance, clinical support, and collection of lab specimens.
Document patient care accurately and promptly in the medical record.
Recognise and adjust care based on age, cultural, and population-specific needs.
Communicate clearly with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines.
Promote continuity of care for all assigned patients.
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
Assist with patient education based on assessed learning needs.
Participate in process improvement initiatives, team meetings, and workflow development.
Support clinical quality, safety, and compliance standards.
Ensure a safe care environment and modify interventions to meet individual patient requirements.
Complete all required organisational learning and training.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Medical Assistant AAMA
Completion of 160 hours of Certified MA externship
