This role focuses on turnaround-driven capital repairs, outage work, and reliability-based modifications, supporting execution from scope development through construction, startup, and return to service. The engineer works within established plant constraints, schedules, and safety requirements while delivering code-compliant, constructible designs aligned with client work processes in Longview, TX.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To\n\nUtilize department design and drafting standards.\n\nUnderstand project scope, specifications and design criteria for assigned projects.\n\nProvide on-site assistance during startup.\n\nSupport engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement specifications, calculations and piping estimates.\n\nDevelop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand.\n\nProduce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.\n\nProduce detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project.\n\nAssist the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.\n\nConsult with design leaders from other disciplines.\n\nReview and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for mechanical input.\n\nProduce designs with efficient use of construction materials with an overall emphasis on ease of construction and completed product meeting the expectations of the client.\n\nCheck calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.\n\nAdvise the senior engineer concerning design or scope changes, which have been identified.\n\nAssist other engineers in developing and assembling scopes, drawings and specifications into a “package”, enabling mechanical purchase inquiries to be issued for procurement of equipment, materials or subcontract pricing.\n\nDevelop construction specifications.\n\nReview fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.\n\nPerform fieldwork necessary to gather field data, check tie‑ins and provide construction support.\n\nProvide technical guidance to less experienced drafting and engineering personnel in the department.\n\nApply advanced engineering techniques and analysis to complex designs.\n\nDevelop small work sharing packages for interoffice execution support.\n\nIdeal Background\nEducation: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.\n\nRegistration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.\n\nExperience: Requires 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities\n\nCommitment to safety and safe work practices.\n\nFamiliarity with small and large capital project work processes and deliverables.\n\nProject ownership and analysis of moderately complex piping systems.\n\nSpecify criteria for and select specialty piping items.\n\nDesign of moderately complex process and utility piping systems.\n\nKnowledge of manual valve sizing, use and application.\n\nKnowledge of application of piping supports and restraints.\n\nIdentification of need, application and specification of safety valves and devices to maintain the mechanical integrity of piping systems.\n\nIdentification of need, application and specification of steam traps and liquid drainers.\n\nEstimating piping related construction quantities from conceptual documents.\n\nKnowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of design efforts.\n\nKnowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.\n\nKnowledge of discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects.\n\nProficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.\n\nExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.\n\nExcellent presentation and virtual team skills.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nAbility to sit, stand, or walk for
