Recycling is looking for an experienced, hands-on Supervisor to lead our 2nd shift production team in Riverton, IL. In this role, you'll oversee the Laborers and Operators on your shift, keep production moving safely and efficiently, and serve as the go-to person on the floor when questions or issues come up. When you join S.I.C., you're joining a company with nearly a century of stability behind it — and a team that feels like family.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nDirectly supervise Laborers and Operators throughout the shift, assigning tasks and monitoring workflow\nOversee production activity to keep the shift running safely, efficiently, and on pace\nMonitor material flow and quality, and maintain accurate shift logs and production records\nTrain new employees and reinforce proper equipment operation and safety procedures\nEnforce safety policies and address hazards or unsafe practices on the floor\nCommunicate shift updates, issues, and priorities to the Weekday Manager\nStep in to operate equipment (forklift, shredder line, etc.) as needed to support the crew\nCoordinate loading/unloading and material handling activity across the shift\nAddress day-to-day personnel issues and escalate as appropriate\nMaintain a clean, organized, and orderly production floor\nWhat We're Looking For\nPrior experience supervising or leading a team in a production, manufacturing, or scrap/recycling environment preferred\nWorking knowledge of scrap metal processing equipment, including forklifts and shredder line operations\nAbility to safely operate machines and equipment, and to train others to do the same\nStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to hold a team accountable\nAbility to repeatedly lift at least 25 pounds\nAbility to keep pace in a fast-moving production environment\nReliable, consistent attendance and punctuality\nSound judgment and problem-solving ability under time pressure\nA team-first attitude and willingness to lead by example on the floor\nWorking Conditions\nWork is performed in an active scrap metal processing facility, both indoors and outdoors, and may involve exposure to seasonal heat, cold, and other outdoor elements\nExposure to dust, metal debris, and odors typical of a scrap processing environment\nNoise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels; hearing protection is required for most of the shift\nRequired PPE includes steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other task-specific safety gear\nWork is performed around heavy equipment, including forklifts and a shredder line\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods throughout the shift\nAbility to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds repeatedly, and heavier loads occasionally with assistance\nAbility to climb on and off equipment such as forklifts safely\nAbility to work at a fast pace to keep up with production and shredder line speed\nAbility to work overtime, including weekends or holidays, with advance notice as needed\nWork Schedule\n\n2nd Shift: 5:15 PM – 3:30 AM, Monday through Thursday.\n\nThis 4-day schedule gives you a built-in 3-day weekend, every week.\n\nBenefits Highlights\n401(k) plan with company match\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance\nFlexible spending (Flex Pay) account\nLife insurance\nPaid holidays and vacation time\nRoutine performance and pay reviews\nSafety equipment allowance\n\nAll benefits subject to change.\n\nPay\n\nThe hourly pay range for this position is $22.00–$30.00.
