The position is primarily based in Eugene, with periodic travel to the Southern Oregon locations. The primary focus of this role is to build a proactive, organized, and effective maintenance program that improves equipment reliability, reduces unplanned downtime, and develops the capabilities of the maintenance team.\n\nResponsibilities\nMaintenance & Reliability\n\nLead and continuously improve the company’s preventive maintenance program across all locations.\n\nReview existing maintenance schedules and ensure preventive maintenance is completed consistently and on time.\n\nImprove systems for tracking work orders, repairs, inspections, equipment history, parts, and maintenance costs.\n\nPrioritize maintenance activities based on safety, operational needs, equipment condition, and business impact.\n\nAnalyze equipment failures and recurring repairs to identify root causes and prevent repeat problems.\n\nEstablish maintenance standards and procedures for inspections, lubrication, servicing, and equipment care.\n\nCoordinate planned maintenance with operations to minimize downtime.\n\nSupport maintenance and troubleshooting of diesel-powered trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and other mobile equipment, including engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and related components.\n\nCoordinate preventive maintenance for the company’s mobile equipment and fleet, ensuring inspections, servicing, and repairs are completed and documented.\n\nAssist with equipment replacement, capital planning, and major maintenance projects.\n\nTeam Leadership & Development\n\nLead, organize, and support maintenance employees by establishing clear priorities, expectations, and accountability.\n\nDevelop employees through hands-on training, coaching, and skill development while promoting a culture of safety, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.\n\nParts, Vendors & Projects\n\nImprove organization and control of maintenance parts and critical spare inventory.\n\nAssist with sourcing and purchasing parts, supplies, and outside maintenance services.\n\nMaintain relationships with equipment manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and service providers.\n\nCoordinate major repairs, specialized services, and maintenance projects.\n\nMulti-Location Support\n\nProvide maintenance planning and oversight for the Eugene, Klamath Falls, and White City facilities.\n\nWork with local management to identify maintenance needs and priorities.\n\nTravel to Southern Oregon as needed to inspect equipment, troubleshoot issues, support maintenance activities, and train employees.\n\nEstablish consistent maintenance standards and practices across all locations.\n\nSafety\n\nPromote safe maintenance practices and ensure appropriate procedures, including lockout/tagout, are followed.\n\nIdentify maintenance-related hazards and work with management to address them.\n\nEnsure required equipment inspections and maintenance are completed and documented.\n\nRequirements\n\nExperience in industrial, heavy equipment, or related maintenance.\n\nExperience leading or coordinating maintenance activities or a maintenance team.\n\nStrong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nStrong organizational and communication skills.\n\nAbility to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and work effectively with operations.\n\nComfortable using computers and maintenance management software.\n\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel between company locations.\n\nPreferred\n\nExperience in recycling, scrap metal, manufacturing, construction, or another heavy industrial environment.\n\nExperience with diesel engines, heavy trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, mobile equipment, balers, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding or fabrication.\n\nExperience implementing or improving a preventive maintenance program or CMMS.\n\nExperience developing and training maintenance employees.\n\nExperience managing maintenance projects, vendors, or budgets.\n\nTechnical degree, trade certification, or
