Sylvan Assistant Director of Education - Part time

GENERAL SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Education is responsible supporting the learning center operations and ensuring a quality education experience for our students and families. Ideal candidates will be available to work 3-4 days a week from 11:00am -7:00pm and/or 4:00 - 7:00pm plus Saturdays from 9:30 - 2:30pm. The job is well-suited for candidates with prior teaching experience who are interested in working long term in a non-classroom education environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Manages and delivers all conference activities such as preparing conference materials and meeting with parents to keep families enrolled in Sylvan Observes and coaches instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers follow Sylvan’s Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that are balanced and robust Manages initial and ongoing progress assessments, ensuring they are administered according to Sylvan standards Helps to select, hire, and train new teachers Schedules and manages teaching staff to meet Center needs and to control labor costs Partners with Center Director to run day-to-day operations including customer account management, schedule changes, and tutoring inquiries Motivates and develops staff by providing ongoing learning opportunities Monitors student progress to ensure goals are achieved and ongoing family needs are met Checks students in and out of the Center with particular attention to student safety and well-being Greets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards Manages the center when the Center Director is unavailable or not in the Center. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired) Two+ years of teaching experience Experience in supervisor role preferred Knowledge of current education curriculums Previous retail and/or sales experience preferred Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computers Experience using Microsoft Word and other standard business applications used by the Center SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED · Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn · Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop teachers/instructional staff · Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills · Strong analytical and problem solving skills · Proven ability to discuss and sell Sylvan products and services to new and existing customers · Strong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible · Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks · Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience · Ability to work collaboratively; Strong team player The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
