This role is hybrid based in Pittsburgh, PA.\nIn this role, the essential functions are:\n\nLeading the development of flight hardware avionics, including computing, signal conditioning, control electronics, filtering, data acquisition, and command & data handling (C&DH)\nLead daily operations, scheduling, and tasking for the avionics team\nProviding technical and programmatic guidance to internal avionics team members (employees, subcontractors, consultants) and partner support personnel\nEstablish review process for avionics engineering products prior to release and manufacturing\nProvide subject matter expertise in subsystem and vehicle phase-gate, milestone design reviews as independent reviewer\nDefine internal work processes and standards for hardware design, circuit analysis, test execution, and result documentation.\nDrive rapid troubleshooting, failure investigation, and resolution of electrical anomalies during component testing, vehicle assembly, and environmental testing\nContribute to avionics product roadmap and R&D prioritization\n\nIf your experience aligns with our basic qualifications and you are inspired by our mission, we’d like to connect.\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nExperience in component/LRU electrical design\n6+ years of experience in electronics hardware development\nB.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Equivalent Work Experience\nSchematic and board design proficiency using software like Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar\nAbility to mentor and lead small teams of engineers to design complex products\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nExperience in developing spacecraft electronics systems for a Class D unmanned spacecraft or similar\nExperience in High-Speed Digital printed circuit board design\nExperience implementing VITA VPX or SpaceVPX standards (VITA 46.0, VITA 65.0, VITA 78.0)\nMicrosoft Project/JIRA or similar task management and scheduling tools\nKnowledge of Range Safety and Ground Safety electronics compliance\nCapable of utilizing mechanical computer aided design (CAD) tools to develop avionics systems\nCapable of programming FPGAs, microcontrollers, computer processors, graphic processors, or similar\nKnowledge of NASA-STD 4001 and NASA-STD 4003 or similar\nKnowledge of space environmental tests\nExperience with testing for MIL-STD 461 or similar\nM.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering\n\nTravel, Physical, and/or Government Mandated Requirements:\n\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120–130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730–774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3). Applicants must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.\n\nThe good faith base salary rangefor this role is $140,000–$160,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive.
