Privacy Program Manager
Venable LLP’s Technology & Innovation Group seeks a Privacy Program Manager to join the Venable Blue Team in the New York or Washington, D.C. office. The Privacy Program Manager oversees and manages all aspects of client-based projects related to privacy program management, privacy operations, and regulatory response. This is a non-attorney position.In this role you will lead a team of privacy analysts to work on maintain and developing privacy Safeguards, operationalizing this Safeguard program, and supporting internal and external regulatory responses related to the program.The Privacy Program Manager will oversee and ensure delivery of four execution workstreams: 1) Safeguard Maintenance; 2) Safeguard Development; 3) Program Management; 4) Audit Support.Key responsibilities include:Privacy Safeguard MaintenanceManage and support the maintenance of Privacy Safeguards with cross functional teamsPrivacy Safeguard DevelopmentWork and manage relationships with cross functional teams to develop privacy related safeguardsPrivacy Program ManagementDefine scope and requirements, analyze data, and develop strategic recommendations for program and operational executionSupport the implementation and continuous improvement of business processes for all aspects of established safeguardsUnderstand adjacent operational processes that impact safeguards and adjust processes as neededCollaborate with multiple cross functional stakeholders to both develop and implement these safeguardsAudit ResponseSupport internal and external audit operationsEnsure responses to internal and external audit related requests surrounding this programProvide and oversee responses to internal and external audit related requests for evidence about program and operational effectiveness of SafeguardsCreate and maintain documentation to facilitate both audit operations and the execution of all workstreamsQualifications:B.A. or B.S. degree; Master’s degree (or equivalent) preferred7 years of minimum work experience in high profile settings, such as presenting to leadership and driving cross-functional teamsExcellent project management skills to both stand up and implement privacy and policy programsExtensive prior experience in privacy program management, compliance, and privacy safeguard development7 years of hands-on operational privacy experience in online tech sectors highly valuable, combination of private and government experience acceptableEffective written and verbal communication skills for both VP-level stakeholders as well as mid-level stakeholdersAbility to gap analysis on current systems and processesExecutive presence and ability to lead, manage, or coordinate cross-functional teams across numerous stakeholders at any given timeCritical thinking and ability to perform well under pressure and ambiguous situationsStrong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs is requiredOur Venable Blue, privacy advisory supports clients by operationalizing privacy program management and regulatory requirements, as well as supporting responses to regulators. This is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
