Employees and their family members have full access to our Employee Assistance Program, which includes resources for work/life solutions, such as one free legal consultation and referrals for emotional support/counseling.Position SummaryThis entry-level position is for a Sample Preparation Scientist in a CAP-Accredited high-throughput clinical toxicology laboratory. The SPS is responsible for the preparation of urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation testing using LC-MS/MS technology. Duties include organizing and processing samples for batched assay testing using robotic liquid handling instrumentation, preparing patient sample dilutions, and submitting batches to LC-MS/MS instrumentation. The SPS may also prepare reagents as needed used during the shift.Full-time: Monday through Friday, every other Saturday from 4 pm to 12 am.RequirementsMinimum Education/Experience: Must meet or exceed the minimum education requirements below:Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory ScienceOR Bachelor’s in Biological Science or Chemical Science: Transcripts subject to review.Primary Duties/ResponsibilitiesPrepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers Ensures proper handling of patient samples.Basic LCMS instrument operationsMaintains a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting.Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices.Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs and laboratory records.Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS.Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed.Assists in training new employeesPrepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory’s documented standard operating procedures.
