We’re looking for EMTs who communicate well, stay calm under pressure, take ownership of their work, and genuinely want to raise the standard in EMS.\n\nJob Types: Full-time\nWork Location: In person at our Houston headquarters\nPay: Starting at $18 per hour\nPosition Overview:\nAs an EMT-B at Healthlift, you will be responsible for providing interfacility care, monitoring patients during transport, and ensuring their safety and comfort. You will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, making a difference in the lives of those we serve. This includes evaluating patients' injuries or illnesses, providing basic emergency medical care, assisting in freeing individuals from dangerous situations, and transporting patients to hospitals or other medical facilities.\n\nWhat We Offer:\nCompetitive pay based on experience.\nFlexible scheduling options (days, nights, and weekends).\nComprehensive benefits package, including:\nHealth, dental, and vision insurance\n401(k) retirement plan\nPaid time off\nPaid training and professional development opportunities\nSupportive and collaborative work environment.\nOpportunities for career advancement.\n\nEssential Functions:\nGive first aid or basic life support to sick or injured people before they reach the hospital.\nUse equipment such as automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and bag valve masks to help patients.\nPerform basic emergency procedures like opening airways and monitoring heart rates during ambulance transport.\nObserve and record the patient’s condition, treatments given, and responses, then report these details to medical staff.\nEvaluate and prioritize the severity of illness or injury to decide the order of care.\nRespond to medical emergencies using basic EMT skills.\nApply basic life support techniques as needed.\nShare important information about patient care and condition with doctors and nurses.\nKeep track of patient progress and how they respond to treatments.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nPatient Care: Deliver basic life support (BLS) care in compliance with state and local protocols.\nTransport: Safely transport patients to and from healthcare facilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being.\nMedical Assistance: Monitor patients’ vital signs and administer care under EMT-B scope of practice.\nTeamwork: Collaborate with paramedics, other EMTs, and healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.\nVehicle Readiness: Perform routine vehicle and equipment checks to maintain operational readiness.\nDocumentation: Accurately complete patient care reports and other required documentation in a timely manner.\nCompliance: Follow all company policies, state regulations, and EMS protocols.\nProfessionalism: Represent Healthlift with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to excellence.\n\nNon-Essential Functions\nKeep a neat and professional appearance as outlined in Employee Handbook.\nHelp train other EMTs in basic job tasks.\nTake out trash and help with light office duties.\nKeep ambulance and bags stocked.\nHelp keep vehicles clean and update maintenance records.\n\nCertification and License Requirements\nMust have a valid State driver’s license and a clean driving record at all times.\nCPR certification required.\nEMT-Basic certification required.\nState-issued fingerprint identification card required.\nAny additional certifications that the agency requires\nOther Qualifications:\nPrior EMS experience preferred but not required.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nStrong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.\nDependable, punctual, and able to handle stressful situations with composure.\nMust pass a background check and drug screening.\n\nPhysical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)\nMust be able to move around throughout the workday.\nMust be able to safely drive and operate vehicles following all traffic laws.\nMust be able to speak and write English clearly.\nMust be able to handle the mental and emotional demands of the job.\nMust be able to see and hear (or use aids to help these senses) well enough to meet job requirements.\nMust be able to work independently, show flexibility and integrity, and work well with patients, coworkers, and outside agencies.\nMust be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, or crouch for several minutes while helping patients or inspecting vehicles.\nMust be able to compassionately work with sick, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or sometimes hostile individuals.\nMust be able to lift up to 150 pounds regularly and assist with lifting more weight with help.\nFrequently push and pull carts or assist in moving patients.\nCore Values:\nHealthlift is part of the Capstone Transportation network which supports both EMS and Non-Medical Transportation operations in four states throughout the country.
