{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"030e907b4a4e3131afa3455c","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/030e907b4a4e3131afa3455c","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/030e907b4a4e3131afa3455c","title":"Mainframe Developer/DB2/Cobol","description":"Job TitlePrimary Responsibilities:Work directly with both technical and business partners on the business requirements.Analyze and make the appropriate modifications:This includes analyzing requirements, developing an appropriate design, writing new programs, editing existing modules, modifying new or existing reports, building or optimizing new or existing feeds, testing enhancements and implementing the proven improvements into the production environment.Mine and manipulate data to build test data and test cases for multiple or complex projectsDocument expected results:In collaboration with the project team, develop and periodically confirm test scheduleExecute Systems Integration Test Plan, including the comparison of actual results to pre-determined resultsDocument and report on identified system testing issues in standard defect tracking toolDefine system regression tests for future projects and for ongoing regression efforts; transition system regression test cases to the QA regression teamIdentify defects in multiple environments and throughout all phases of the development life cycle and ensure that development groups address all open defects in a timely manner.Support production verification and validation:Work in conjunction with all functional groups to identify potential future improvements to the overall process, requirements gathering and documentation or test templatesSkills and Knowledge:Excellent written and verbal social skillsHigh level of attention to detailStrong oral and written communication skillsGood technical skills including a deep grasp of relational databases, file processing, application and web-enabling technologiesSolid grasp of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planningQA Project Team Leader, are responsible for directing and the overall testing effortEducation and Experience:Stellar knowledge of COBOL II, JCL, DB2, VSAM & MVS Utilities5+ years hands-on mainframe development experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experience is requiredExperience in the financial services industry area a plusExperience with QA, system development, and test project life cycle methodologiesAbility to work effectively with product development and systems managementRequired Skills: Stellar knowledge of COBOL II, JCL, DB2, VSAM & MVS Utilities 5+ years hands-on mainframe development experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required Experience in the financial services industry area a plus Experience with QA, system development, and test project life cycle methodologies Ability to work effectively with product development and systems management Basic Qualification: Additional Skills: REMOTE, Likely to be multi-year in duration Background Check: Yes Drug Screen: Yes Notes: Must be on your direct W2.
