Persons requiring accommodations to apply and/or be considered for positions are asked to make their request to the Director of Human Resources.JOB TITLE: Special Education Paraprofessional w/ DrivingRequirementsHigh school diplomaSome college or experienceBilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not requiredREPORTS TO: Preschool PrincipalRECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Special Education Teacher; Building PrincipalJOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to the studentsTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months; 35 hours/weekEVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation PolicyEssential DutiesConsistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job functionWorks cooperatively with classroom and special education teaching team to provide quality instruction and supervisionUses positive forms of communication with children in the classroomDemonstrates confidentialityHelps in the care of the classroom including sanitizing classroom toys and materialsAssists special education students in the classroom by providing additional supports such as hand-over-hand guidance, expectations reminders, and movement breaksAssembles and organizes materials to be used during instruction by Classroom Teachers and Special Education TeachersInteracts with children during play by expanding on vocabulary and social skillsSupports the Special Education Teacher by documenting objective observation notesAssist with inventory of supplies and equipmentOther duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher or Preschool PrincipalOTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory)Effective oral and written communication skillsSkills in human relations and leadershipAuditory and visual skills
