With two hospitals, an alliance of over 700 physicians, and numerous medical facilities throughout the region, NCH provides nationally recognized, high-quality health care close to home.\nPosition Summary\nThe sterile processing technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical and clinical operations. This position is responsible for the inventory management, decontamination, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. The technician also supports the case cart room by maintaining sterile supplies and accurately preparing surgical cases according to physicians’ preference cards.\nKey Responsibilities\n· Operate and monitor washer/decontaminators, ensuring instruments are correctly loaded and all cycles are recorded properly.\n· Utilize sonic cleaner and compressed air appropriately during cleaning processes.\n· Receive and decontaminate contaminated instruments and equipment using both mechanical and manual cleaning techniques.\n· Disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble surgical instruments, including micro instruments and rubber goods.\n· Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization methods and proper use of sterilizers such as Steam, Sterrad and Steris System 1.\n· Maintain the case cart room and ensure accurate pulling and stocking of cases based on physician preference cards.\nEducation, Experience, and Qualifications\n· High school diploma or GED required.\n· One of the following qualifications must be met:\no Successful completion of an accredited surgical tech or sterile processing tech training program.\no Certification as a certified sterile processing and distribution technician (CSPDT) through CBSPD or a certified registered central service technician (CRCST) through HSPA.\no Minimum two years of applicable experience in a sterile processing department with the ability to obtain CSPDT or CRCST certification within one year of hire.\nWhy Join NCH?\nAt NCH, you’ll be part of a mission-driven organization that values teamwork, integrity and innovation.
