Join us.\n\nJob Description\n\nAECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Structural group to support our Water Business Line in Chicago, IL with experience in design of new structures as well as structural forensic work, related to water treatment plant structures, commercial, and industrial buildings.\n\nDuties include but are not limited to:\n\nPerforms specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.\nGathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures such as field notes, sketches, and photographs.\nWorks on detailed or routine structural engineering assignments involving hand calculations and computer modeling tasks using structural programs (RISA 3D, STAAD 3, Excel Spreadsheet, AutoCAD, REVIT, etc).\nExperience in technical writing of proposals and reports, using reasonable cost estimates and schedules.\nPerforms fieldwork to review building conditions and prepare detailed field sketches.\nOccasional out-of-town traveling is necessary.\nProposes a creative approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.\nIdentifies errors and discrepancies in results.\nGuides and mentors entry-level engineers.\nPerforms work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.\nIndependently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering work.\nPerformance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.\nClient presentations are expected; therefore, acceptable levels of verbal and written communication skills are required.\n\nQualifications\n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:\n\nBA/BS in Structural Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education\nValid Driver’s license and motor vehicle records check\nValid SE license in the State of Illinois\nUS Citizenship is required\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nMaster's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred\nMicrosoft Office Suite capabilities and use standard office software\nTechnical experience related to current structural design codes (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE-07, etc.).\nCapable of supporting multiple projects at a time and meeting project budgets and schedules.\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nExperience in water industry structural design.\n\nAdditional Information\n\nSponsorship is not available for this position.\nRelocation is not available for this position.\nTravel is expected up to 30%.\n\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
