Grain Processing Corporation, a member of the KENT® Corporation family of companies has an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Quality Control Analyst! The Quality Control Analyst will perform testing on defined routine samples of products produced by Grain Processing Corporation, as well as additional special testing or projects as directed by the Analytical Services Manager or Department Chemists. Analysts will also do routine instrument calibrations and maintenance.\nThis position is designed and intended to be performed in Washington, IN.\nPRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nPerform the required analytical testing for each lab and take action regarding the results.\nPerform special assays as required in each lab and take action as needed.\nPerform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.\nTroubleshoot and repair equipment when needed.\nWork on special projects related to method/instrument development and validation as directed by the manager or chemist.\nPrepare and standardize chemical solutions and media necessary for the lab.\nKnow and use good lab practices. This involves proper cleanup of the lab areas and good safety habits.\nProperly use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), the system used to store all lab data.\nProvide training and instruction to new and existing employees as directed by the Analytical Services Manager.\nCommunicate with customers and production management to resolve issues and take appropriate action when problems arise.\nMaintain good communication with all Analytical Services co-workers, Analytical Services Management and Chemists, and Production personnel.\nIssue and validate certificates of analysis for customer shipments and approve product shipments for release.\nInitiate and maintain a meaningful log for communication.\nAdditional duties as assigned.\nEDUCATION\nMinimum of an associate's degree in a Science related discipline, preferably Chemistry or Biology.\nEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS\nPrevious Laboratory experience preferred.\nAbility to make decisions independently with little or no supervision.\nProven communication (oral and written), organizational, math, and computer skills.\nAbility to pay attention to details.\nOTHER\nThis position works a 12-hour rotating shift which includes working days, nights, weekends, and holidays.\nOvertime is required to cover vacancies, vacation, and training.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
