Our Spacecraft Engines product line is in active serial production, while our Launch Rocket program is progressing through design validation toward first flight. We operate a modern digital manufacturing stack — Odoo 17 ERP, ION MES, and PLM — within an AS9100-aligned quality management system, and we are investing heavily in AI-driven operations intelligence to accelerate how we build.Position SummaryAstra is hiring an Operations Intelligence & AI Systems Engineer to turn the data flowing through our ERP, MES, and PLM systems into real-time, decision-ready intelligence for the entire company. In this role, you will design and maintain the data pipelines and integrations that feed Claude (Anthropic) and related AI platforms with structured production, supply chain, quality, and engineering data — and use those AI capabilities to generate production metrics, planning and scheduling analytics, cross-functional communication summaries, and assigned action-item dashboards.Your mission is simple to state and hard to do: eliminate the lag between what is happening on the factory floor and what leadership, planners, engineers, and technicians know and act on. You will sit at the intersection of manufacturing operations, enterprise systems, and applied AI, and your work will directly accelerate production rate on Spacecraft Engines and readiness on the Launch Rocket program.Key ResponsibilitiesData Integration & AI Enablement•     Architect and maintain data pipelines that connect Odoo 17 ERP (manufacturing, inventory, purchasing, quality), ION MES (work orders, in-process quality checks, floor execution data), and PLM (BOMs, revisions, engineering change orders) into clean, structured, queryable datasets.•     Feed Claude and other AI platforms with ERP/MES/PLM context using APIs, MCP connectors, structured exports, and retrieval workflows so that AI outputs are grounded in current, accurate system-of-record data.•     Build and maintain prompt libraries, agents, and automation workflows for recurring analyses — production status, schedule health, material shortages, quality escapes, and open action items — so insights are repeatable, auditable, and self-serve for stakeholders.•     Own data quality, consistency, and master data governance across systems, including part numbers, lot/serial traceability, routing and operation data, and BOM alignment between PLM, Odoo, and ION.Metrics, Dashboards & Reporting•     Design and publish production and operations dashboards covering throughput, WIP, schedule adherence, on-time delivery, first-pass yield, scrap/rework, supplier OTD, and inventory health across both product lines.•     Develop planning and scheduling analytics that convert MRP outputs, capacity data, and demand signals into forward-looking schedule risk assessments and recovery scenarios.•     Automate recurring communication artifacts (e.g., daily production standups, program reviews, executive summaries) generated from live system data rather than manually assembled slides.•     Build assigned action-item dashboards that consolidate open items from meetings, quality events (NCRs/CAPAs), engineering changes, and production blockers — with owners, due dates, and aging — into a single accountable view.Operations Improvement & Cross-Functional Partnership•     Partner daily with production, planning, supply chain, quality, and engineering teams to identify where better information flow removes bottlenecks and accelerates build rate.•     Drive adoption of AI-assisted workflows across the company — training planners, supervisors, and engineers to use AI-assisted dashboards and queries safely and effectively.•     Establish guardrails for responsible AI use including access controls, ITAR/export-control data handling boundaries for AI tools, and AS9100-consistent record integrity.•     Close the loop measuring the impact of dashboards and automations on cycle time, schedule performance, and decision latency — and iterating based on results.Required Qualifications•     Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.•     3+ years of experience working with ERP and/or MES systems in a manufacturing environment (Odoo, SAP, NetSuite, Epicor, ION, Tulip, or similar), including reporting, configuration, or integration work.•     Hands-on experience using APIs and structured data — proficiency in Python and SQL, comfort with JSON/REST, and experience extracting, transforming, and joining data across enterprise systems.•     Demonstrated experience applying LLM/AI tools such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable platforms for analysis, summarization, or workflow automation — including prompt design and evaluating output accuracy.•     Strong manufacturing operations literacy — you can read a production schedule, understand work orders, routings, BOMs, and MRP logic, and speak the language of planners and floor supervisors.•     Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into concrete metrics, dashboards, and automated deliverables.•     U.S. Person status required per ITAR (22 CFR 120.62): U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.Preferred Qualifications•     Direct experience with Odoo 17 (technical module development, ORM, scheduled actions, external API) and/or ION MES integration experience.•     Experience with the Anthropic API (MCP connectors, tool use, agentic workflows, Claude Code) or similar AI integration frameworks.•     Experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated manufacturing environment (AS9100 / ISO 9001), including familiarity with NCR/CAPA processes and lot/serial traceability requirements.•     Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Superset, or embedded Odoo dashboards, and building near-real-time data models.•     Continuous improvement background — value-stream mapping, constraint analysis, or lean/Theory of Constraints methods applied to production flow.•     Familiarity with handling export-controlled technical data and configuring role-based access controls in enterprise systems.Equal OpportunityAstra Space Systems is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
