Property Controller

Residential Property Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a residential real estate portfolio. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, budget management, and compliance while supporting property management teams in maximizing asset performance.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all accounting functions for a portfolio of residential propertiesPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsOversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisMonitor cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activityEnsure timely rent roll reconciliation and revenue recognitionCollaborate with property managers to review operating expenses and improve financial performanceMaintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and regulationsCoordinate audits and support tax preparation processesReview capital expenditures and track project budgetsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field3–7+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in real estate or property managementStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingExperience with property management/accounting software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, SAGE, Real Page)Advanced Excel skillsPreferred QualificationsCPA or CPA-track preferredExperience managing multi-property residential portfoliosStrong understanding of lease structures and property-level financials
