Brief description Use knowledge of welding techniques and processes, metallurgical and material types, material cutting processes (oxy/acetylene and plasma), weld symbols, and engineering blueprints to accomplish production goals. The Fitter will lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using typical or common fabrication tools (tape measure, tri-square, etc.) and welds.Key responsibilities:Utilize blueprints to fit up and fabricate metal components and equipmentTack weld, or weld components and assemblies using GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processesPerform first order inspection to ensure accuracy and dimensions meeting quality standardsUse of jib and overhead cranes to move assembled partsDemonstrate safe working practices and standardsEmbody, demonstrate, and reinforce the #1ANDRITZway core values and behaviors and promote a positive work environmentOther duties as assigned#1ANDRITZway core behaviors:Customer FocusOwnership for PerformanceShared CommitmentOpennessJob specific competencies:SafetyQualityOverall job performanceTeamworkAttendance/ConductQualifications (required):High school diploma/GEDBeginner to intermediate experience in welding, metal fabrication, and fittingGood mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry); willingness to learn and improve math skillsKnowledge of Oxy fuel and hand plasma cuttingAbility to operate saw, cold saw, shear, and punch pressGood knowledge and use of common and typical fabrication toolsGood communication and organizational skills with a willingness to work with others; ability to interact professionally and positively with all levels of personnel in the companyKnowledge of production and manufacturing in a sheet metal facilityDemonstrate qualities that support a safe working environmentMajority of work is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment; exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, and electricity in the manufacturing areas, noise level is usually moderate to highMust occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; must have ability to use close vision, peripheral vision, and adjust focus; required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, use hands and arms to reach for objects, carry, climb, balance, speak, and hearOther valued experience, knowledge, skills & abilities (preferred):NoneAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.
