Responsibilities\ninclude: donor cultivation and stewardship of existing donors to increase overall retention\nand giving levels, and relationship management between donors and others on the boards\nand staff who work with them. This position will also be responsible for leading annual\nappeal campaigns at the Center level, and growing the pipeline for major gifts as we\nprepare for a multi-million dollar capital campaign.\nThe Director of Development reports to the Chief Development Officer, and will work closely\nand collaboratively with Executive Directors and Board volunteers at the Center level. This\nposition will also oversee two additional front line Directors of Development in conjunction\nwith the Chief Development Officer.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nMaintain a personal portfolio of annual and major gift prospects, as well as those donors and prospects that have the capacity to give at greater levels.\nServe as the primary relationship manager for their portfolio of prospects, developing and implementing a written donor strategy and relationship record of all interactions.\nCommunicate through face to face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings, and determined strategies; ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.\nDevelop solicitation strategies for donors / prospects in support of the organization's annual fund, planned giving, and growth campaigns; ensure strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals.\nSupport the fundraising efforts of the Executive Directors at the Center level and Chief Development Officer in securing new and renewed gifts.\nUnder the guidance of the Chief Development Officer, create and manage organizational budget; track and report on progress to goal to CDO, ED, and CFO including contracts, gifts, and pledges.\nEnsure proper donor recognition and oversee accurate donor lists.\nProject manage annual appeals at the Center level ensuring deadlines and fundraising goals are met.\nComprehensive Campaign Strategy and Implementation\nWork collaboratively to develop and maintain a detailed campaign plan and calendar in order to achieve campaign goals.\nWork with the Chief Development Officer to set priorities; manage and adjust the work plan and calendar as needed.\nMaintain up to date knowledge of major programmatic initiatives.\nManage the creation and production of all campaign materials, including (but not limited to) letters, emails, and prospectuses.\nWork with the Chief Development Officer to manage revenue projection and expense budget, as well as pledges and pledge fulfillments.\nEvents\nWork with the Financial Development Team to strategize and help execute cultivation events for major donors and prospects.\nBe a visible presence at special events, such as major donor cultivation events and fundraisers.\nEndowment & Planned Giving\nWorking with the Chief Development Officer, develop a strategy for outreach to and stewardship of planned giving prospects and donors.\nAssist in the development of all print and web-based supporting materials for endowment and planned giving.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nProvide analysis and recommendations based on reporting.\nProvide detailed prospect reports for solicitors.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRequirements:\nYMCA CAUSE DRIVEN LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:\nPhilanthropy\nCommunication & Influence\nInnovation\nDeveloping Self & Others\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3-5 years (direct or equivalent) experience managing high level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $10,000 and above.\nAbility to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program, including: annual giving, special events, and special projects/campaigns.\nWillingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and professionalism.\nHigh level proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and a working knowledge of search functions for donor research purposes.\nSuperior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with a culturally diverse group of volunteers, co-workers and donors.\nExcellent organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments with many deadlines and competing requirements.\nPREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:\nProject and team management skills and experience.Ability to effectively plan and set priorities.\nAbility to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.\nStrong attention to detail, analytical, customer service, and presentation skills.\nAbility to become proficient in all forms of YMCA technology systems including SGA Pulse, Ceridian/Dayforce, Collabornation, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Google Email).\nAbility to multitask, prioritize, and to work in a fast paced office environment.\nExceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nIs subject to frequent interruptions\nWill be in contact with all levels of staff, board members, guests, vendors, business associates, applicants, and visitors\nMust be able to work beyond normal working hours in order to serve the needs of internal customers, weekends and holidays as needed for early morning meetings, extended weekday meetings/trainings or weekend trainings/meetings\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMay be required to walk, stand, kneel and stoop\nContinuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking\nMust be able to stand or sit for long periods of time\nMust be able to perform the duties of direct reports\nBACKGROUND CHECKS:\nAn offer of employment is contingent upon receipt of satisfactory results to meet minimum\nrequirements of the position.
