You will perform manual soldering of surface mount and through-hole components. You will be responsible for applying adhesives and other materials to printed circuit boards. You will complete assembly of modules consisting of printed wiring boards, chassis, housings, wires, and hardware. You will also be responsible for mixing of various materials for use on printed circuit boards. You will have familiarity with ovens, hot plates, hot air pencil, etc.\n\nThe day-to-day\n\nProduces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.\nReads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions.\nPositions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists.\nUses hand tools or machines to assemble parts.\nConducts quality control checks.\nCleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools.\nPrepares work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.\nAssembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.\nMaintains a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.\n\nWhat you'll need\n\nExperience with military and space assembly is desirable.\nExperience building cables and harnesses is desirable.\nWire bonding skills and experience.\nIPC-610 and J-STD, 620 certified soldering skills.\nExperience mixing and applying epoxies, adhesives, and other types of materials.\nExperience using Oracle, Solumina, Agile and Microsoft office.\n\nWhat will help you on the job\n\n4+ years of related experience in electronics assembly.\nExperience performing manual soldering and assembly of electronic devices.\nExcellent hand soldering skills. Fine pitch soldering required.\nExperience working in an engineering prototype environment.\nExcellent computer skills.\nExcellent mechanical assembly skills.\nMust be able to read and following drawings.\nAbility to work on assemblies while looking through a microscope for 8+ hours per day.\nHigh school diploma or GED or equivalent experience\nUS Government Position. US Citizenship Required.\n\nSalary range\n\n$22.5 - $37.69 / hourly\n\nAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
