Preventative Maintenance Technician
RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and DutiesHave a working knowledge of both elementary and secondary facility maintenance.Ability to respond to emergency callouts.Perform minor electrical repairs.Perform minor plumbing repairs.Perform all other building maintenance and construction related duties as assigned.Be available for the on call rotation.Attendance at work is an essential function.Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: Minimum Experience:Five years of experience in building trades, maintenance planning, construction/facility planning and scheduling, or construction estimating QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification:High school diploma or G.E.D.Valid Texas driver's licenseEligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of computer use as it relates to the management of maintenance schedules, time estimates and reportsAbility to read and interpret construction documents including blueprints, drawings, schematics and schedulesA good working knowledge of building codes and both state and local ordinancesKnowledge of building construction and materialsKnowledge of types of asbestos use and locations of asbestos containing materials in buildingsKnowledge of a variety of building tradesAbility to meet predetermined deadlinesAbility to read and interpret written and/or oral instructionsAbility to concentrate on accuracy of detailsAbility to exercise judgment as to when to act independentlyAbility to work cooperatively with employees and the publicAbility to work flexible hours or shiftsAbility to work in confined areas OTHER INFORMATION: Equipment Used: Hand tools, power tools, electrical meters and test equipment, motor vehicle, paint brush, paint rollers, dollies and carts, computer. Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over); standing, walking, kneeling, and repeated bending; climbing, operation of motor vehicle.
