Works under the direct supervision of a line supervisor.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES• Selects, places, and forms wire leads on harness form-boards.• Applies cable tie fasteners using hand-held manual and pneumatically operated tools, which may require squeezing and/or trigger operation.• Follows diagrams, prints, and drawings for complex assemblies.• Measures strip length of wires and cables.• Applies insulating tubing over wires and performs related operations such as electrical tape application or heat shrinking with a heat gun.• Crimps electrical terminals onto wires with various hand tools.• Connects terminated wires into connector housings by identifying the correct cavity, pushing the wire into the cavity, and verifying retention by pulling.• Uses simple hand tools like wire cutters, long nose pliers, wire strippers, screwdrivers (manual, pneumatic, electric) to assemble electrical components.• Tests completed wiring harnesses by connecting them to test fixtures and interpreting test indicators for good or bad results.• Performs other miscellaneous assembly duties as assigned by supervisor or management.OPTIONAL DUTIES• Soldering wires to electrical components using a handheld soldering iron.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical requirements listed here are typical of those needed to perform the essential duties of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.• Visual ability to see and distinguish colors; corrected vision allowing reading small print at 12-18 inches.• Ability to see small objects and be detail-oriented.• Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.• Dexterity to push and pull wires into connectors and to mate and de-mate connectors.• Ability to stand while working (some tasks require standing all day).• Effective communication with supervisors.• Ability to work at a brisk pace and meet production standards.QUALIFICATIONSCandidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The listed requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed.Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.Education and/or Experience:Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and converting fractions/decimals.Skills & Abilities:- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.- Ability to read blueprints for assembly instructions.- Sufficient reading skills to identify labels and simple instructions.- Ability to measure to 1/32 inch.- Cooperative attitude toward coworkers and supervisors.WORK ENVIRONMENTManufacturing facility that is well-lit, air-conditioned, and heated.
