Physician Otolaryngologist

We are currently looking for a Head and Neck Surgeon dedicated to providing top-notch care for our Veterans at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Otolaryngologist will undertake the following duties, along with any additional tasks assigned by the Chief of Surgery:Clinical Duties:Assess, diagnose, admit, treat, and manage patients with diseases, disorders, and injuries related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck, including issues affecting the ears, facial structure, upper respiratory system, and upper digestive tract.Provide non-surgical care in line with approved clinical privileges.Conduct inpatient and outpatient consultations, as well as follow-up care for patients referred from other clinical departments and affiliated outpatient clinics.Deliver emergency and on-call Otolaryngology services as required, adhering to granted privileges.Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests, implementing treatment plans that align with VHA care standards.Education and Training:Instruct and mentor medical students, interns, residents, technicians, and fellow physicians.Engage in surgical staffing briefings and contribute to ongoing education within the department.Documentation and Compliance:Ensure timely documentation of all clinical interactions, procedures, and consultations in the electronic health record, following VHA Health Information Management guidelines.Adhere to all VHA, VISN, and facility policies, including those related to patient safety, infection control, quality management, and risk management.Professional and Administrative Duties:Engage in quality assurance, peer review, FPPE/OPPE, performance improvement initiatives, and Medical Staff activities as necessary.Collaborate with other services to ensure seamless interdisciplinary care coordination.Carry out administrative tasks and other responsibilities as directed by the Chief of Surgical Service, in line with professional roles and privileges.Maintain current licensure, board certification, credentialing, and complete all required training.QualificationsDoctor of Medicine or Doctor of Otolaryngologic Medicine from an accredited institution.Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in otolaryngology.Board Certification from the American Board of Otolaryngologic Surgery.A full, current, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.Ability to meet all Customer Service and Computer Security standards, demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care and the developmental and cultural needs of patients.
