The Network Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues with multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices, and network management systems. This Network Engineer will also mentor and provide guidance to the Systems Engineer staff.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nEssential Duties:\nTroubleshoot network performance issues. Analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions.\nMonitor and respond to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interface with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.\nProvide overall data center networking support and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment.\nCollaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members, ensuring seamless communication.\nLead design reviews and contribute to the development of scalable network architectures.\nEvaluate, recommend, and implement firewall strategies, ensuring robust information security.\nDiagnose and resolve complex network problems, optimizing network performance.\nDevelop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to network configurations and topologies.\nIntroduce and integrate cutting-edge technologies, enhancing our data center environment.\nLiaise with third-party vendors, ensuring smooth and swift client-vendor interactions.\nPerform a variety of network engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including hardware, software, and support facilities and/or equipment.\nProvides technical expertise with agency-specific security best practices and delivers policy-level standards and documentation.\nOther Duties:\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nRequirements:\n\nRequired Skills:\nMust be well-versed in advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices, and network management systems.\n(Cisco products preferred). Excellent tier 2/3 network troubleshooting skills. Understanding and experience with virtual and software-defined networks. This position requires excellent problem-management and customer service skills. Works well with a small team, is a great communicator, and is customer-facing.\nAdvanced working knowledge of various networking technologies, including but not limited to, Cisco switches, routers, access points, firewalls, and security solutions.\nAdvanced knowledge and experience with IP, DHCP, and VLAN configurations.\nExperience with cloud networking and wireless technology.\nKnowledge of SDWAN, BGP protocol, and data center Cisco EVPN.\nCisco proficiency includes hardware and software diagnostic tools. This includes but is not limited to Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA) software, Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE)\nExperience with Infoblox software is a plus.\nVMware software-defined networking NSX-T is a plus.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.\nDesired Skills: N/A\nEducation and Experience:\nMin 5 years' experience as a Network Engineer. BS or BA in a related field or relevant work experience.\nDOJ Public Trust or must be eligible to clear. (TS or Secret can qualify for reciprocity)\nOne or more of the Cisco certs listed (must be active): CCNA/CCNP required. CCIE plus.
