You will be part of a talented software team that works on mission-critical applications. DevOps engineer roles and responsibilities include providing expertise in the full system development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, delivery, and sustainment. DevOps developer responsibilities include working with software developers and site reliability engineers to design, develop and deliver high-volume, low-latency applications and infrastructure for mission-critical systems.\nResponsibilities:\nDefine site objectives by analyzing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality.\nDevelop infrastructure as code, container orchestration, or other cloud-native solutions to quickly deliver scalable applications and systems.\nDevelop system health monitoring, establish system performance baselines, and conduct system performance tests. Work with site reliability engineers to ensure the continuous delivery of services within organizationally defined service level objectives and agreements.\nRecommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.\nIntegrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.\nDevelop and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines to test and deliver software systems through development, testing, and production. Work with software developers to ensure software components are built correctly, securely, and are tested before delivery.\nTroubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.\nSupport continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.\nSupport users by developing documentation and assistance tools.\nUpdate job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.\nEnhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.\nExperience and technologies:\nExperience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)\nExperience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Ansible\nExperience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle\nExperience with no-SQL databases such as Elasticsearch or DynamoDB\nExperience with tools including git (preferably GitHub), CI/CD (preferably Jenkins), artifact management (preferably Nexus), ticketing (preferably Jira), and knowledge management (preferably Confluence)\nExperience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes\nExperience delivering and maintaining complex applications in languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or JavaScript\nExperience delivering and maintaining front-end web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue\nExperience developing on, and for, Linux-based systems (preferably RedHat-based)\nExperience developing in an Agile environment\nLevel: Entry Level - SME\nClearance: Active security clearance with full scope polygraph is required\nPager/On-call: Pager rotation may be required\nTop 5 Reasons to Work at Anthem Engineering:\nWe realize that we all spend a considerable amount of time at work so it had better be fun!\nDo work you feel good about.
